RTR Society is proud to offer free counselling services through graduate-level counselling practicum students completing clinical internships under the supervision of our Executive Director, Dr. Shauna Burns-Thomson, Registered Clinical Counsellor. Practicum students are carefully selected based on their education, relevant experience, and alignment with the trauma-informed and relational values that guide RTR Society’s work.
All practicum students are insured and receive ongoing supervision, weekly consultation, and additional training to ensure ethical, compassionate, and effective care for those we serve.
For individuals seeking counselling directly with a Registered Clinical Counsellor, payment flexibility may be available depending on current program funding. Counselling sessions may also be eligible for coverage through First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) or Veterans Affairs (VA) with prior approval, or may be accessed through private payment if needed.

RTR Society also facilitates structured group workshops within approved correctional institutions and community settings throughout the Fraser Valley. These workshops provide participants with a supportive space to explore the emotional, relational, and practical challenges that can arise during incarceration and the reintegration process. Grounded in a trauma-informed and relational approach, discussions focus on holistic wellness, personal responsibility, emotional regulation, and rebuilding healthy connections with self, others, and community. Through guided conversation and reflective learning, participants are encouraged to develop greater self-awareness and explore pathways toward meaningful and sustainable reintegration.

Participation in Reintegration Through Relationship Society programming is completely voluntary and is designed to support client healing and growth as they move towards reintegration. Programming opportunities are offered pending funding and clinician availability.
Safety for clients, clinicians, and community members is of paramount importance in all that we do. As such, participation in programming requires a suitability interview and services can be terminated at any time should client or clinician consider the relationship to be unsafe.
