Our Mission
The Reintegration Through Relationship [RTR] Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering healing and resilience in our communities by providing transformative support for incarcerated men and those reintegrating into society. Our mission is to empower individuals through trauma-informed support, including individual and group counselling programs, provide scholarships for children of incarcerated parents, and offer continuing education and supervision opportunities for clinicians specializing in trauma-informed care with this population.
We believe in the profound impact of relationships as a catalyst for change, not only for offenders but also for the safety and well-being of our communities at large. By addressing trauma and promoting healing through prosocial and purposeful connections, we aim to reduce recidivism while breaking the cycle of trauma and building a brighter, safer future for all.
Land and Teaching Acknowledgement
The Reintegration Through Relationship (RTR) Society is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Matsqui and Stó:lō Peoples, whose relationship with this land continues to this day. We acknowledge that these lands have been stewarded since time immemorial and remain home to Indigenous Peoples who uphold their cultures, languages, laws, and traditions despite ongoing impacts of colonization.
We express deep respect and gratitude to the Indigenous communities and Knowledge Keepers who continue to teach us what it means to walk in good relationship—with the land, with one another, and with all living beings. We recognize our responsibility to engage in reconciliation not as a statement, but as an active and ongoing practice rooted in humility, learning, and meaningful action.
RTR Society commits to fostering relationships built on reciprocity, cultural safety, and collective healing as we work alongside Indigenous partners, Elders, and community members in the spirit of restorative and transformative justice.
